Ignition timing

Your ignition timing is extremely important for the proper functioning of your engine! If the timing is incorrect, your engine will not perform at its best, and if it is really incorrect, you risk a seizure.

To time an ignition you need at least one timing pin .
A piston lock would not be a bad idea to tighten and loosen the ignition.
You can also use a comparator and its tip allowing you to fix it in place of your spark plug.

How to time your ignition:

Once your measuring tool is in place, find the top dead center (TDC). This is the point where your needle will stop and then start moving in the opposite direction (down). Once you've found this point, lock your gauge or dial gauge at zero before lowering your piston to the desired value. (Be careful to go back to lower it, otherwise you risk having an incorrect setting.)
Once at the right value, degrease the tail of your crankshaft well to avoid future misalignment as much as possible. Then insert your rotor by aligning it with your stator. Finally, tighten it. To do this, we recommend putting 2 screws in the rotor to turn it more easily. Remove your timing tool and replace it with something to block your piston. Using the 2 screws, press your rotor firmly against your crankshaft so that both turn at the same time. Then block your crankshaft, tighten your nuts and check your timing.
